Under the surface of the earth and the seas there is electrical energy called telluric currents which pervades the earth. The term telluric currents comes from the Latin tellus which means ‘earth’.These unseen currents are of an extremely low frequency (ELF) from 3 to 300Hz and are known to have been used by the U.S. and Soviet/Russian navies to communicate with their submarine fleets.
In the autumn of 1862, there were experiments being conducted to investigate the telluric currents. The phenomena of telluric currents it seems are induced in the earth’s crust by the effect of solar radiation mostly from our sun, bombarding the magnetosphere of the earth as shown in the picture at right.
The telluric currents appear to flow from the poles to the equator in the daytime (equatorward) and from the equator to the poles at night(poleward). We are able to measure the electrical potential in the ground by placing electrodes in different areas and noticing the voltage differences because of the oscillating telluric currents. With this method we can
determine the direction and magnitude of the earthly telluric currents. You see, the earth acts as a conductor that can carry an electrical current wirelessly across many miles. The great inventor Nikola Tesla (father of AC current) was conducting experiments in the wireless transmission of energy using the earth as a conductor of the Telluric currents.
